Very soon, Indian income tax payers will be able to file their grievances online.
Already income tax website provides many online facilities for income tax payers which includes income tax payment, filing of returns, view TDS statements, status of PAN application etc.
This new online complaint redressal system will enhance the overall tax system in India. It will bring transparency.
The trial run of this facility named ‘Sevottam‘ is already being experimented on a pilot basis in Mumbai and Udaipur.

As the system becomes online and centralized this year, refund status will be easier to track this year onwards.
It is irony that one can pay taxes, file return online but can’t make complaints online.
I have written to DIR-HQ CBDT number of times, email and faxes but no one bother to look at it.

I file my return for asstt year 2008-09,in june 2008. But till date I have not receive TDS refund. So ,I want to know that I am entitled to get or not. If ,yes -than pl any time limit for refund officer or no time for the refund officer

Yes, you can claim exemption for payment for your father’s policy but you can not claim benefit for home loan payment, if the loan is not in your name.

Hi, I had filled the return online and sent them the form 5 by post as demanded. Got an email from them that they have not recieved it, sent another one and again the same email. Third time send it via speed post and to my surprise they have again replied that they have not recieved it. Is there any way to escalate this. What am I supposed to do now. Can’t go there personally and they do not accept registered post or courier! Any help will be appreciated.

You may check your refund status in Form 26AS (on http://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in) . But the year you are looking for is too old and it won’t be available online.
I would request you to contact your income tax office for the same. If they are not helpful, you may consider filing a RTI for same.

1) If u r filled ITR online then check your ITR status login at
https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/portal/login.do for refund status or
2) If u filled ITR offline then contact your assessing officer immediately for refund.

You can complain to local income tax office regarding non-issuance of form-16.
You may also file income tax return without form 16, by help of form 26AS and salary slips.
I have not received income tax refund for the AY 2007-08 , 2010-11 and 2011-2012 ,which i have filed in time .My PAN No. is AGMPB9681Q. Kindly advise properly .Moreover I am not getting any proper response from the income tax office in srinagar. Thanks.

You should file a RTI to know more information and submit a written request to assessing officer asking for the refund.
You should get a stamped copy of letter as receipt.

my it refund cheques for the year 2009-2010 &2010-2011 have been send back due to the neglence of the postal department,i have already contacted the local assessing officer who has send the application to sbi office mumbai,but unfortunately i did not get them till nowand the biggest problem is the there is noody whome i can address my issue as their custumer servive is useless.can you please help me in any sort to resolve this issue.

Best way to tackle this issue to give a written request to assessing officer and get a stamped receipt back.
If that does not work, file a RTI asking them status of your case. They will have to respond with satisfactory answer within one month.
I Gajanan N. Shenoy received Refund Cheque from income tax department for refund of my tax for year 2009-10 through cheque no .645279 of amount Rs. 4000/- found to with wrong account number.

I am a retired university Professor from Haryana. Please advise me for the following:
I have been suffering due to excess TDS deductions on my arrears by my employer since 2008-09, and further TDS details are not available on TIN website. Thus it is causing delay in refund also. Even in the current assessment year of 2011-12 about 3 lakh TDs has been deducted in excess and i am unable to fill even my IT return as the TDS details are not available on TIN web. Is ther anything i can do to book my employer for these anomalies which are highly frustrating for a retired person.

You must raise this concern with income tax department.
Your employer must have issued form-16 to you for the deduction. Go to your nearest income tax office with copy of these form-16 and form 26AS taken from TIN website. Meet income tax commissioner and present your case to them.

I returned an OUTDATED cheque to SBI, Mumbai. The Assessing Officer has been informed about the same. SBI, Mumbai, has informed that the Assessing Officerv has to REINITIATE a fresh case. The IT Deptt is delaying the process. Is there any limit to the delaying process ?

We would advice you to give a written request to assessing officer and get a receiving signed by him. You may also ask them a timeline. If same is not issued within time frame, file an RTI to know the reasons.
Sir, I returned an outdated refund cheque to SBI, Mumbai. I informed the Assessing Officer about the same. The verbal message from IT Deptt is: OLTAS Block is yet to be filled up by SBI, Mumbai. I understand that this verbal information is wrong. I am an individual. I did not submit ONLINE Return. The refund for AY 201-11 relates to Govt job. I wish to have a clear-cut response from you: Is the verbal information from IT Deptt right ? SBI, Mumbai, informs me that REINITIATION and related formalities are to be done by the Assessing Officer. Please enlighten me.

As written in earlier comment, please get their assurance in written. Verbal messages have no meaning. They will keep putting blame on other side.
Best option is to complaint in writing and get a receiving for same, only then you will have some proof of issue.
You can submit written complaint to both SBI and IT department and let them give a written reply for same.
