Today heard of layoffs in Sapient Gurgaon Office.
Heard that all meeting rooms are covered with black clothes.
Doctors, ambulances and extra cabs are arranged. People were sent packing in cabs in batches.
Must be very sad mood out there. Feeling very bad about guys there.
Somebody please save this world from recession.

Pathetic and sad that something like this had to happen. I can already see investors and potential clients losing interest in not just Sapient but the outsourcing industry for India itself. Going to be hard to restore trust among the employee community, and of course clients. Let’s hope Sapient can recover from this mess and employees’ lives aren’t ruined. Tread carefully, I’d advise anyone.

Join sapient only if you are flexible to work late night and weekends also. you are expected to complete work in 1-2 days even though you do not have knowledge on tool. from the day1 you will be assigned story and need to deliver. All projects are like this only. If you are dedicated only to work and forget your personal life and health, sapient is the right place to work for. That why 40% folks leave this company after joining being on bench. remaining are used to show client that they have team and still they continue to be on bench. only 5-10% folks get new project after signing bond that they will work for 1 year. 2-5% folks get project and work late night and weekends by not signing any bond. Its risky to join sapient by being on bench. They donot hire on project basis so be aware of these. you will be hired and put on bench to enjoy bench time.

Why are you doing this men, posting wrong and impractical information??
1 Signing bond – there is no such things exist in Sapient
2 Completing a project in 1-2 days – whole world knows that no nontrivial project can have such short time span, perhaps except you.
3 Just 5-10% people are working – Everybody knows that Sapient is a good paymaster and it’s able to so when only 5% people are working I wonder what will happen when rest of the people will start working?

People who are going under WCS ATG training have signed bond for 1 lakh.
and still didn’t get project and on bench.

I don’t know what reason behind your frustration.
As for as my posts are concern neither am I paid for this nor at any point of time I tried to showcase Sapient as a great place to work.
I have just cross questioned people who are posting misleading information.
Don’t you think when somebody says his friend goes to home just once in week that too just brush his teeth, or claims that he has been asked to finish everything in 2-3 days or 90-95% people in Sapient are sitting idle, he is just talking nonsense?
I am working in sapient and found one of the worst company to work for.
All companies were taking advantage in recession time to screw employee. sapient does it even today also. The project i have been working none of the architects are real architect. all are doing just people management only and no better that code/doc reviewers not creators. Fundamentals are very poor to these architects. Very poor quality code and design being delivered in my project. All projects are so much in tight schedule in Bangalore that every project manager says the day you join my project you will be assigned story and need to deliver. no time for learning.. no time to relax.. no buffer…straight forward they say you need to work late night and work on weekends also.. else go back to bench. Lots of people gets rolled of from project in 1-2 months… by saying that performance is not good and again getting new project becomes difficult…Anyway I am looking out for change but new to sapient so no good company calls.. they ask why u r leaving so early…

just now you were saying that signing bond in wrong. How do you claim that you know everything whats happening in noida, gurgaon and bangalore sapient offices and people talking in open forum is wrong. As a tech guy its not possible or you might be working in cool project or will be working as track lead or tech manager. Of course you must be paid HR guy to claim this that you know it is wrong. Even as HR guy its not possible to know whats happening in each project because project manager never says to top level management that I am screwing my team.
Project manager says that do this work today else your resignation letter should be sent to me next day else I will fire or terminate you, no rolloff.
Should I give you proof for this? which project?

Its always good to join a company who cares ethics, health and work life balance. prefer joining even with lesser salary.
Sapient just talk these all as fake so never get impressed. Join sapient for short term if you donot have job or completely fedup with current employer and want to change job at any cost.
How does staffing work at Sapient???Are they effictent enough and who heads staffing at Sapient..
Sapient is a ‘flexible’ company in many ways-people can very easily work from home,there is no strict rules concerning dress codes, working hours, and all. Also, people are very easily approachable and many are willing to help.However, staffing is not good.The coordination between people who recruit you, people who put you in projects(staffing guys) and project managers is pathetic and frustrating. You may end up not getting the technology of your choice.Also, staffing people and recruitors lie and abstain from presenting real facts. So dont have very high hopes from this company, join if you wanna learn few new technologies and earn some money for 1-2 years.
I am a 2009 fresher, selected by sapient as trainee technology. The offer was withdrawn in jan 2009. Is there any hope that the company will call us now.
There is no way they will call you.Even if they call its better not to join sapient.Even i faced the same situation.I am a 2008 out and got selected for sapient in 2007 jan and the offer got deferred and then withdrawn by sapient.This will always happen in sapient.Its better not to join sapient
Sapient expect you to work on project minimum 12 hours a day. Alternate week you may be asked to come on weekends also. If you say your planning is not good and we are working late night and weekends mostly, they say we work like this only in all projects, it is sapient culture and you will never have 9 to 6 work culture in any project. You will be asked to work whole night also several times in a week but no skip next day for night stay.
Is that so??? Actually the pkg offered was too good.
Currently m working in a medium level it company and my technology is mainframes but the pkg is very poor.

In sapient getting job offer is very simple. Every week 25-30 people join sapient and put on bench after one week orientation talking on core value, openness, good culture taking/giving feedback etc. But don’t get impressed by these. All are fake to impress you and you will realize after getting into project. But after orientation week you will be put on bench and struggling in getting into project by lots of interview/code exercise etc. Getting into project in sapient bangalore for new hire is very tuff and you can guess lots of people on bench even for more than 6 months.
Ask your hiring manager for which projects I have been hired and you will be put directly into project from the day you join or not.
They will not answer your this question straight forward and this is faith of this company on new hires.
If you are open to work minimum 12 hours a day and weekends, sometimes late night till 2-3 AM, sapient is the right place to work for.
