SSN is social security number in US. USA companies would be asking for a US SSN only.
As such there is no equivalent of SSN in India. - @Manikandan
SSN process was started by EPF department 4-5 years back, but it never took shape. We don’t see any progress on that so far. - @Shubhra
It should not be compulsory for non-US citizens. They must be asking SSN of US and it can be only got while living in US. - @Nikhil

Mithilesh kumar tiwari. I have resigned & applied for PF return 8+ yrs before. I am suspecting that concern establishment is not approving my form for pf returns. So it is pending yet now. Can anybody guide me, there any alternate option to apply for it, as like online or direct to PF office in establishment approval is not required.
