In case, you are not happy with status of your withdrawal/refund application, you may contact EPF office. You may find address/phone number on this link: http://www.epfindia.com/epfo_directory.htm

If they also do not listen, launch a complaint on this website: http://epfigms.gov.in/

EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organization) is now moving to electronic payment system. PF refund amount will now be credited directly into member’s bank account through NEFT (National Electronic Find Transfer).

Currently department issues cheque and post it to member’s address, the process takes up to a month and leads to a large number of complaints. EPFO will also collect the mobile numbers of the members so that it could send SMS alerts informing about credit of the pension amount.

  • Dear Pankaj

Re PF Transfers from prev. employers:
-Understand that no matter how old - one can yet get PF transfers - from Government RPFC !
-Does that apply to transfers from PF Transfers from PF Trusts [ manitained by the Companies themselves ] ?
    - Where does one complain Re PF Trusts [ manitained by the Companies themselves ] ?

    • @Anil
I am not really sure about timeline for transfer in case of company PF trust.
To complain about company PF trust, it should be directed to company HR/Management and PF trust heads.

  • HI,
I left my previous employer in June 2010. I submitted my PF withdrawal forms recently and it is under process. I worked with that employer for 3 years.
I read in many sites that the PF amt is taxable if I withdraw before 5 years. Now my question how will the tax be deducted. Some ppl say that PF dept deducts tax before they settle it and some say that they settle complete amt and we have to declare it as other income when we file IT returns. Which one is true?

    • @Pradeep
PF department generally do not deduct TDS on EPF payments. They have been scolded multiple times by income tax department and Govt for the same. But still they are not doing it to save their headache of income tax computation, deposit and form-16 issuance etc.

  • Hi Pankaj, I recd an sms stating amount approved for payment through cheque and payment under process.....Does it mean EPFO dept will transfer through NEFT ( i had given all details including cancelled cheque) or will send a physical cheque at postal address. Waiting for reply, thanks Amit

    • @Amit
Even if they pay by NEFT, status shows cheque only. It has happened in my case. So can't really say whether they will send amount through cheque or NEFT.
