EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organization) is now moving to electronic payment system. PF refund amount will now be credited directly into member’s bank account through NEFT (National Electronic Find Transfer).
Currently department issues cheque and post it to member’s address, the process takes up to a month and leads to a large number of complaints. EPFO will also collect the mobile numbers of the members so that it could send SMS alerts informing about credit of the pension amount.

I have applied for EPF refund on 20.4.2010 my agency has forwarded it on 31.8.2010 and I am still awaiting for the refund to be credited in my account..
My agency is also not providing me my EPF Account Number also really ridiculour these people might be expencting some under hand money, rascals, crooks,

Please ask your employer to provide EPF account number. You have right to know that.
Once you have that you can inquire about refund from EPF office.
For last approx. three years I am working at Jaypee institute of Engineering and technology,Raghogarh, Distt.-Guna(M.P.)EPF Office is Gwalior.My PF a/c no. is 0015476/000/0000132.MyEPF amount(Rs.3,69,269/-) from Rajkot office was transferred to this a/c vide letter no.20924326/RAJ-06/GJ/41291/ /150 dated 24.07.2009 but to my surprise this amount is not shown anywhere in subscriber’s annual statement of account for the year 2009-2010 issued from Regional Provident Fund Commissioner Madhya pradesh.

EPF refund takes minimum 1.5-2 months to process.
There is no minimum service condition for applying for refund. If you apply before 5 years, refund will be taxable as per income tax slab.

My frined and I had filed a PF refund form at my previous employer at same day in the month of december last year. Both my friend and I had got a NEFT transaction for the EPF refund amount on Monday (28-02-2011), where my friend got 2 NEFT transaction amonting to 2 lac and I had got only single NEFT transaction of 16K only, although both of us should be getting equal amount as a refund. He had got it already and now its almost 3 days over and I have not got my 2nd NEFT transaction.
Should I wait for some more time or should I take some action?

There might be some delay in processing of one of the accounts. So I would advise you to wait for some more days and then inquire about this from PF office.
It is frustrating to see the PF department in Pune, sending a cheque after 3months to a bank which has shifted..inspite of providing them with the cancelled cheque & complete bank account details.
Is there any Bank account type restriction for PF cheque to be deposited?
Has it got to be a single account?
Can a EPF refund cheque be credited to a Savings account of a Non-nationalised bank, the account is in joint name of EPF account holder & his spouse.

There should not be any such restriction on EPF account cheque deposit. It can be deposited to any bank account in your name (single or joint)

Without PF number, a little can be done.
If your employer is deducting PF from salary, he is legally bound to provide details in salary slip/statement.

Hi, I have joined new company in Sep-10 and sent form 13 to my previous employer. After completing formalities they forwarded the form to PunePF office in Dec 2010. But till date the amount has not got transfered into my new PF account.
I have 2 questions
1) Now whose responsibility it is to follow up with PF office, mine or my current employer’s?
2) If it’s my responsibility, then do I need to go to PF office personally and try to find the status or there are some organizations/people who can help me out.

Unfortunately, PF department operates in a least transparent and open way.
If you directly ask them about transfer status, they won’t tell you. Better is to get it asked from your current employer.

You can apply for PF withdrawal after 2-3 months of leaving job. You can also get PF amount transferred to new PF account with new employer.

In case, its not possible get employer sign, get your signature verified from a bank Manager, any gazetted officer, by Member of the Central Board of Trustees. / committee / Regional Committee (Employees’ Provident Fund Organization) or Magistrate / Post / Sub Post Master / President of Village Panchayat / Notary Public and submit the Form to the PF office with a covering letter mentioning clearly the reason why you were not able to get form verified by previous employer.
